OKPARE LODGE- No 9863 (2011)

In 2009 the Niger Lodge No 3883 meeting in Warri in Delta State proposed that a new Lodge should be formed within the Ughelli/Sapele axis of the State, in order to ease the transport difficulties of Brethren moving around this riverine state to attend meetings in Warri.

The name ‘Okpare’ was chosen as it lies in the middle of the Warri, Sapele, Ughelli triangle and because it has a historical significance as being a major trading post for the first international trading companies in the area, including the United Trading Company, which was part of the conglomerate now known as “UTC”.

The Founding Brethren were a combination of English Masons from Niger Lodge No 3883 and Scottish Masons from a number of Lodges in the area that had become rather dormant. The Founding Worshipful Master was R. A. Inaba and the Senior Warden was Dr. A Adedoyin (both of Niger Lodge). The Junior Warden was G. A. O. Ekwedi, a Past Master of Delta Lodge No 1695 under the Scottish Constitution. Consecration of the Lodge was conducted by the District Grand Master, Olorogun Moses Taiga on Saturday 24th September 2011 at Lodge Delta (SC) Masonic Temple, Ughelli, where the Lodge continues to meet four times per year.
