Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, was born a Lewis, on the 15th of April, 1959, to an illustrious father, the late Hon Justice Chuba Ikpeazu, QC, OFR. His father, was a Mason, and son of St. John’s Lodge No. 8720 EC.
Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu SAN, OON, attended St. Joseph’s Primary School, Onitsha. On completion of his primary education, he enrolled in the prestigious Christ the King College, Onitsha, where he was from 1971- 1972. From C.K.C. Onitsha, he transferred to Dennis Memorial Grammer School, Onitsha, D.M.G.S., where he was, from 1973- 1975.
In 1976, he left the shores of Nigeria, for the United States of America, where he enrolled in Kendall College, Evanston, Illinois, from 1976- 1978. He later attended Lake Forest College, Lake Forest Illinois, from 1978- 1980. Subsequently, he attended Oklahoma City University, Oklahoma, from 1980- 1982, thus qualifying as a lawyer. He did his National Youth Service in Benin City, from 1982-1983, serving in the law firm of Victor Aghayere Esq.
He attended the Nigeria Law School in 1983. On graduation, he was called to the Nigerian Bar, in 1984. After his call to the Bar, he worked briefly with, S.I. Oputa Esq, from 1984- 1985. In that same 1985, he joined Ikpeazu Chambers, where he has remained in active Legal practice.
Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu, was preferred, elevated and admitted, to the Inner Bar, with the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, conferred on him, in the year of our Lord, 2002.
Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu SAN, was later conferred with the National Honour of Officer of the Order Of The Niger, OON, by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu, SAN, OON, was initiated into Freemasonry, in Triumphant Lodge No. 8720 EC. He was thereafter passed and raised in the same Lodge. He was installed in the chair of Triumphant Lodge No. 8720 EC in the year 2002. Whilst still serving as Worshipful Master of Triumphant Lodge No. 8720 EC, W.Bro. Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu, SAN, OON, was promoted to District Rank, by the then District Grand Master, Rt. W. Bro. Prince Adediji Adedoyin, on his official visit to the Lodge. He was to continue as Worshipful Master of Triumphant Lodge No. 8720 EC, the following year, by a stroke of fate, the Master Elect, having declined to turn up for installation.
He currently holds the District Rank of PDGReg., conferred on him by the District Grand Master, Rt. W. Bro. Olorogun Moses Oghenerume Taiga.
W. Bro.Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu, SAN,OON is a member of the Ancient and Prestigious Agbalanze Society of Onitsha, with the title of EZENNIA. He is happily married with Children.
