John Benjamin Oludare Holloway was born in Lagos onnFriday 30th August 1929. He reigned as master of Travellers Lodge Number 3726 EC from 1979 to 1980.

He was District Grand Master of Nigeria from 1991 to 1996.

In 1988, history was made as he became the first ever African to propose the re-election of the Most
Worshipful Grand Master, His Royal Highness The Duke of Kent Kt, in the Grand Lodge. A very high
honour in Masonic circles.

As District Grand Master, he worked assiduously to overhaul the public image of Freemasonry in
Nigeria, being a professional Public Relations Consultant and Film Producer, this yielded many
dividends.

He was deeply involved in the early consultations for the formation of the Grand Lodge of Nigeria, which has now yielded fruit.

Among his many achievements in the district remains the building and dedication of the entire secretariat complex in St Georges hall.

He ascended to the Grand Lodge above on Saturday, 20th April, 1996.
